A few years ago, we set out to travel around our beautiful coastal county and seek out the best landscapes, adventures and food on offer. We made a bucket list of all the places we wanted to visit. But we quickly realised how hard it was to find essential information about places before you get there. We needed first-hand visitor knowledge of whether places met our accessibility needs, budget and interests. But it just wasn’t there. So we created Ansum Cornwall to share our experiences and make it easy for you to find your next adventure.
Discovering local hidden gems has become our shared passion. Whether you are lucky enough to live in Cornwall or you’re enjoying a well-deserved holiday, we hope you’ll find inspiration on where to go and what to do to make the most of this unique corner of the world.

I love the name of your website. What does Ansum mean?
Thank you, curious reader! We love it too. Ansum is a word that’s popular in Cornwall, from ‘handsome’. It broadly means ‘lovely’ or ‘impressive’, and it perfectly expresses how we feel about the place where we are so lucky to live.
The photos on your website are great! Where did you find them?
We didn’t! As a family we love taking photographs of the places we visit. All the photographs on our website are taken by us so you can see for yourself what the places we review are really like.
Can I use the photos from your website?

I’m looking for recommendations off the beaten track. Do you only review popular tourist places?
No, we are interested in everything that Cornwall has to offer. That’s why you’ll find a variety of reviews and recommendations from tourist favourites to local hotspots. Some will be well known to you and others may be more surprising!
Do your reviews tell me whether a place is accessible?
Our reviews are written from our experiences as a family of people with and without limited mobility and accessibility needs. We share what we have found accessible about a place, or what made something inaccessible for us. However, we always recommend that you contact the place you plan to visit in advance to discuss your accessibility needs.
Do you only review places that charge admission?
No. Many of our favourite family trips are to hidden gems that can be enjoyed for free or on a small budget. We have lots of reviews for woodlands, parks and trails that don’t cost a penny.
Can I pay you to include my business in your guide?
