Located in the mouth of the Camel Estuary, with its endless expanse of golden sands, Daymer Bay makes an ideal haven for swimming and is popular for water sports.
With a breathtaking panorama as far as the eye can see, Daymer Bay is perfect for walkers who want to explore the coastal path. The soft, buttery sand combined with the calm, shallow waters also make this an ideal attraction for families. The beach sweeps all the way around to nearby Rock, which is just a short walk away at low tide.
Nestled behind the nearby dunes you’ll find the hidden gem of St Enodoc Church, a charming chapel that’s steeped in history and is also the resting place of the former Poet Laureate, Sir John Betjeman.
The bay is at its best in warm, sunny weather. We always head straight to the beach to enjoy a picnic lunch when the sun is out.
After you’ve had your fill of the sparkling waves, you can follow the path behind the sand dunes to St Enodoc Church. It’s a lovely walk which takes you through the adjoining golf course, although sadly it is not suitable for wheelchair users, people with limited mobility or buggies. With its rich history and a distinctly curved spire, the church feels like you are stepping back in time. But don’t be fooled into thinking the church is no longer in use. If you are lucky, you might just find a wedding going on there!
It’s worth noting that whilst Daymer Bay offers toilet facilities next to the main car park, there is a charge for these services. We would recommend you take plenty of change for your visit. Maintenance appears to be sporadic so be mindful to carry wipes, tissues and hand sanitiser.
