Falmouth is one of the arts hotspots of Cornwall, a place where artists hone their craft, share ideas and explore creativity by the sea. At Trebah Gardens, you can find plenty to inspire you from towering trees and the Monet-esque Mallard Pond to theatre shows at their outdoor amphitheatre.
A sketchbook, a set of pencils and a comfortable pair of shoes are all you need to make the most of an afternoon walking through the subtropical gardens. There are benches along the trail that invite you to take a moment to breathe in the fresh air and notice the sights and sounds of nature around you.
Colours shift with the season as bright spring rhododendrons make way for bold hydrangeas in the autumn. Adults and children alike can climb through gunnera, also known as giant rhubarb, and imagine ancient creatures hiding among the soaring leaves. An ice cream on the secluded beach is a must on a hot summer day.
There is wonder for both humans and dogs, who are welcome in the valley garden and on the secluded beach as long as they are on a lead. Water bowls and treats are available at the Visitor Centre.
